Well... I was kinda posting online on the Eureka! yahoogrps abt this particular mail. Apparently, somehow it was misprocessed by yahoo n thus it didnt really appear on the group. In some sense, i must have really been thankful tt it didnt appear...
Quite some time ago, i recall my senior telling me abt the politics in RJ. In the end, he gave me a very simple advice: Look out for mines.
Now, as i play minesweeper, getting more of a pro myself (my egoism taking over again ><), i suddenly wonder if anyone can really navigate through this mine field accurately. Well, if any1 wishes to try, u could play 220 mines on a 24 by 30 board and experience the trauma for all u like ><
A large prob in minesweeper is tt theres shielding. For some ppl, they like to see a 7 appearing. Partly cause this means tt u can easily get 7 mines settled, and partly cause its exciting to c such rare n huge nos. But once u get a bit more pro in the game, u start to admire the disgust of these huge nos. Yes, they do help u settle many mines quickly. but wad u lose out is information. wad is behind these mines?? would the com b so cruel to place an irritating mine just behind these? n so u get stuck. but obviously, the game must continue n so u take a random pick at something. BOOM ><
some ppl say tt minesweeper is abt experience. well, i dont seem to want to contest this tt much. yes. sometimes, u decide probabilistically on experience whether or not a space may b a mine or not. in fact, a large portion of the "tricks" tt u see pros doing r much a simple rule tt can b proven mathematically. but since they have been using this rule so often, it becomes much of an experience. but this is also the prob. variations are common in minesweeper. sometimes, these variations can b easily reduced into these rules. N much like many pros, time is all tt matters. so many a times, these variations become killers. cause we forget the actual truth behind, being led on by simple outward signals, it is only soon tt the smart gets killed by their smartness.
some ppl also say tt minesweeper is abt guesswork. well, in much the same way as gambling, ppl believe tt theres some skill to guesswork. well, at least they believe tt there is. probability is a tool. but after all it only indicates wad is probable (or in minesweeper, wad is unprobable). but really how many times can we die in minesweeper??
but wad is the real killer in minesweeper?? no it isnt the mines altogether. sometimes, it is just tt part of the minesweeper (the person tt is) to go try his/her luck n hack some square tt he thinks cant be tt improbable, when there r obviously other options around. BOOM >< kaput.
tts y it is thankful tt this minesweeper (this person typing on the keyboard now) had his mouse jammed as he tried to click tt square. n perhaps escaped death to think abt whether or not to hack tt square again. is there really no choice??
no from me today. just some qns floating arnd in ur head. quote zf, "go figure"
